Adults in Chula Vista can process medical trauma effectively by participating in structured support groups where their clinical experiences are witnessed and validated by peers.
This structured witnessing breaks the cycle of psychological isolation and helps patients separate their core identity from their “Medical Narrative.”
A diagnosis often comes with a barrage of clinical experiences—dismissive doctors, painful procedures, and sudden loss of agency. Healing requires bringing those experiences out of the dark.

During Phase 1 of our Groups Collective Resilience program, we focus directly on stabilization. The first two weeks are dedicated to creating a safe environment to unload the heavy narratives you have been carrying.
Week 1: The Soft Landing: We establish immediate group safety and introduce a shared language, allowing you to articulate your fatigue without over-explaining yourself.
Week 2: Navigating the Trauma: We identify the direct psychological impact of your diagnosis. You are witnessed by peers who understand the exact frustration of medical gaslighting and clinical exhaustion.

Individual therapy is highly effective, but processing trauma within a group adds a layer of collective validation that a single clinician cannot replicate. Hearing another adult in the Chula Vista area articulate your exact internal struggle is profoundly regulating for the nervous system.
If your trauma has heavily impacted your partnership, we also integrate these concepts into our Couples & Family Therapy to ensure your home remains a safe space for recovery.

What does it mean to “witness” trauma in a group?
Witnessing means actively listening to another member’s experience with empathy and validation, without attempting to “fix” their medical condition or offer unsolicited medical advice.
Will talking about medical trauma trigger my anxiety?
Our facilitators are licensed clinicians who carefully pace the sessions to prevent emotional flooding, ensuring the environment remains a soft landing rather than an overwhelming one.
Do I need to be actively in crisis to join?
No. The group is beneficial for anyone carrying the residual emotional weight of past or ongoing medical experiences.
Find your soft landing.
